From the 30th January to the 3rd February Year 7 were in Khao Yai taking part in a varied and exciting programme of outdoor activities and team building exercises. Mr Jimmy, Mr Andy, Ms Ali, Mr Steve and Mr Alex (Khao Yai) all helped out for the week.
On the first day, we went to Khao Yai Art Museum and enjoyed looking at the paintings and walking around the beautiful grounds. We also had time to start designing our pizzas as part of our Maths work.
On Tuesday, we drove out to Khao Yai National Park and completed a very long jungle trek which took us nearly four hours! The ice cream at Palio afterwards was very much deserved. That night, we visited Tesco to pick up our pizza ingredients.
On Wednesday, we went rock climbing at Nam Pha Pa Yai, during which many of us managed to overcome our fear of heights. In the afternoon we finally got to cook our pizzas, which actually turned out very well, even if some of the ingredients were a little strange!
Thursday was our final full day and it was packed with activities. We were able to go to Splash World, learn to cook outdoors in clay ovens and even camped out overnight in tents on the school grounds. We were all quite tired on our final day, but still managed to fit in some Geography work as well as preparing to leave for home.
It was a busy, tiring and challenging trip from which we all gained a lot. We all managed to get into our ‘growth zone’ at some point during the trip and cannot wait to go back next year.
