Y.4 Field Trip

Mar 22 2018

Last week, Year 4 had a fantastic visit to the Fossil Museum in Korat. We were very fortunate to be given a 2-hour guided tour by Dr. Vilailuck, an accomplished researcher and scientist who happened to be on site that day.

There were three parts to our tour. The first was the petrified wood museum. Here, students learned about petrified wood from around the world, including an exhibition of high-quality samples found right here in Nakorn Ratchasima. The tour continued onward to the ancient elephant museum, where students learned about the development of the modern elephant going all the back to the Woolly Mammoth. Finally, students entered the most exciting (and scary) part of the museum: the dinosaur museum! Here, there were samples of dinosaur bones, fossils, and even impressive displays of full-sized dinosaur skeletons!

Upon leaving, Dr Vilailuck said that students from SISKY were very inquisitive and extremely well-behaved. She welcomed us back anytime.

After the visit to the museum, we went to the ice cream shop 'Coffee and Cream' as special invited guests of Mr and Mrs Feldman, the parents of Jasmin in Year 4.  Students and staff were treated to ice cream, cake, drinks and were even given a teddy bear to take home!! The hospitality and generosity of Mr and Mrs Feldman was unparalleled.

Please feel free to stop by the Year 4 classroom to view the display of our trip!
