Year 5&6 Transition Coffee Morning

Mar 25 2022

This week we welcomed students of Years 5 and 6 and their parents to a coffee morning, in preparation for their move into the Secondary school. For Year 6 this is not far off, but they say it is never too early to plan, so Year 5 were very keen to attend too. The focus of the presentation was what makes St.Stephen’s the natural choice for students’ next stage in their educational journey. The familiar campus, small class sizes, sense of community and being made welcome; a school where students and teachers know each other. With outstanding teaching and learning that enables all students to fulfill their academic potential and develop valuable soft skills, St. Stephen’s is a second home. This was highlighted by Head students Beck and Rainna, having studied with us since Year 1 and Year 7 respectively. They described how being part of a tight knit community supported them in their studies, and enabled them to feel valued both as individuals and in their contribution to the school as a whole. They credited St. Stephen’s with the success they have both achieved, and pointed out that this would not have been possible if they were in a much larger school without the personal attention they receive here. The outstanding examination results our students achieve are comparable or exceed those of the much larger schools in Bangkok and indeed worldwide. We are non-selective, and so all of our students contribute to this success, drawing attention to their ability to achieve great things academically regardless of their starting points. We are very proud that we are all inclusive.
The event was concluded with a lively question and answer session, where parents asked Beck and Rainna, and staff very pertinent and intuitive questions. Transition lessons will start for Year 6 in late April, and gradually over Term 3 they will become more involved in the life of the Secondary school, preparing them for entry into Year 7.
