Instrumental Teaching Programme

Introduction
St Stephen’s International School (Bangkok) offers the opportunity of learning to play a musical instrument. Students taking lessons gain valuable practical and social skills. They find that making music with their peers in bands and choirs to be great fun.

Who can learn?
The lessons are available to anyone who wants to learn. For any advice, such as on the suitability of a particular instrument, please feel free to talk to a member of the music department.

Who are the teachers?
The teachers are well-qualified and experienced peripatetic teachers based in Bangkok.

Practice
We all need to practice to make progress. Students are encouraged to practice regularly and parents can help by encouraging regular practice.

How much practice should students do?
Here is a rough guide:

Beginners - one year     (Up to Grade 2 ABRSM/Trinity)    15-20 minutes a day
1-2 years        (Grade 2-4)                20-30 minutes a day
2-4 years        (Grade 4-6)                30-45 minutes a day
4-6 years        (Grade 6-8)                45-60 minutes
(some do more than this and aspiring professionals might practice 6 or more hours a day!)

When are the lessons?
Students are withdrawn from their curricular (normal) lessons. The instrumental lessons work on a rota throughout the school day which means that students will not miss the same lesson every week. Usually, the day of the week (e.g. Monday) will stay the same. 

If a student has an instrumental lesson and is therefore missing a subject lesson, what should he or she tell the subject teacher?

Students are given their timetable for the whole term in advance. Therefore they will know in advance which subject lessons they will have to miss. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the subject teacher in advance – and in person (not through another student or by a note) that they will be attending an instrumental lesson.

How do students catch up on missed subject work when they attend instrumental lessons?
While it is the student’s responsibility to catch up with missed work, and to find out the homework set, teachers will be understanding and help students to catch up.

Should I purchase an instrument first?
You should have your own instrument to practice at home. We can offer advice on purchasing instruments though local dealers.

What instruments are available?
Violin,     Voice, Piano, Drums, Guitar, Ukulele, Thai instruments (Khim, Ranard, Saw Duang, Saw U, Khlui, Khong Wong)

What to do if the instrument I want to learn is not on the list?
If you would like to learn another instrument, we may be able to advise you on finding a teacher outside school.

Waiting Lists
If we cannot find a teacher for a particular instrument, we will inform you and put you on a waiting list. You will be entitled to a full refund if we cannot find you a teacher for your instrument.

 

Part 2: TERMS AND CONDITIONS

TIMES OF LESSONS
Times of the lessons
Parents must understand that students will be withdrawn from subject lessons. Parents may be concerned that students are missing class work. However, with consultation with the class teacher regarding make-up work, a student’s progress should not suffer.
 
Rescheduling a lesson (for instance for school trips, important fixtures or illness)

• With your teacher’s agreement, you might occasionally need to reschedule your lesson. You should give Mr Hnon, the instrumental coordinator, and your instrumental teacher at least 24 hours before scheduling a lesson.
• Please try to keep to regular times and make changes only when absolutely necessary. (A trip to the cinema is not a good reason to change a lesson time for example.)
  
  If the student misses a lesson, is there any financial reimbursement?
  If the student has not notified the teacher in advance, there can be no financial reimbursement.
  
  What happens if the teacher misses a lesson?
  Teachers at St. Stephen's are all reliable professionals who will always notify students or parents 24 hours in advance by telephone if they cannot attend a lesson and arrange an alternative mutually convenient time.
  
  Punctuality
  The student must be at the lesson on time. We request that students aim to be at the lesson at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the lesson so as to be warmed up with music and notebook ready. If the student is late, the teacher will not be expected to make up the time.

ENROLLING FOR LESSONS

All students must complete an enrollment form.

Do students already learning an instrument at St. Stephen's have to reenroll?
Yes, at the beginning of term one, returning students have to reenroll. They do not need to re enroll for terms 2 and 3, as it will be assumed that they will carry on unless we receive a letter canceling lessons prior to the deadline.

How Much Does it Cost?
Individual Lessons: All lessons are 30 minutes long and the total cost for 12 lessons in Term 1 is 5,760 baht, 10 lessons in Term 2 is 4,800 baht and 8 lessons in Term 3 is 3,840 baht.

THE NUMBER OF LESSONS EACH TERM
There are 12 lessons in term 1, 10 lessons in term 2 and 8 lessons in term 3. Please note that, if a student decides to stop lessons midway through the term, no refund can be made.

PAYMENT AND REGISTRATION

To register, please scan the QR code below.

An invoice will be sent 3-4 days after registration. Please can parents pay the invoice they receive from the school cashier within 7 days. Your child can then begin the instrumental programme.

STOPPING LESSONS

To stop at the end of a term, simply do not reregister. However, if students stop midway through a term, no financial reimbursement can be made (as we must protect the interests of the teachers).

คำนำ

โรงเรียนนานาชาติเซนต์สตีเฟ่นส์ (กรุงเทพฯ) ได้เปิดโอกาสให้นักเรียนได้เรียนรู้การเล่นเครื่องดนตรี โดยนักเรียนที่เข้าเรียนจะได้รับทักษะในการปฏิบัติและทางสังคมอย่างมีคุณค่า นักเรียนจะค้นพบว่าการทำดนตรีร่วมกับเพื่อนในชั้นเรียน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นในวงดนตรีและคณะนักร้องประสานเสียงนั้น เป็นเรื่องที่สนุกมาก

ใครสามารถลงทะเบียนเรียนได้บ้าง?

ในบทเรียนต่างๆ มีให้สำหรับทุกคนที่ต้องการเรียนรู้ และหากต้องการคำแนะนำใดๆ เพิ่มเติม อาทิเช่น ความเหมาะสมของเครื่องดนตรีเฉพาะ คุณครูแผนกวิชาดนตรีทุกท่าน ยินดีให้คำปรึกษากับนักเรียนทุกคน

ใครคือคุณครูผู้สอน?

คณะคุณครูผู้สอน คือ ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและมีประสบการณ์การสอน และอาศัยอยู่ในกรุงเทพฯ

การฝึกซ้อม

นักเรียนทุกคนต้องการการฝึกฝนเพื่อความก้าวหน้า ดังนั้น นักเรียนทุกคนจะได้รับการกระตุ้นให้มีการฝึกฝนอย่างสม่ำเสมอและท่านผู้ปกครองสามารถช่วยเหลือนักเรียนได้โดยการสนับสนุนให้นักเรียนมีการฝึกซ้อมอย่างสม่ำเสมอเช่นกัน

 นักเรียนควรจะทำการฝึกฝนเกี่ยวกับเครื่องดนตรีมากน้อยเพียงใด?

คำแนะนำเบื้องต้นมีดังต่อไปนี้

ผู้เริ่มต้น - 1 ปี	(จนถึงระดับชั้นเกรด 2  ABRSM/กลุ่มที่มีสามคน)	วันละ 15-20 นาที
1-2 ปี	(เกรด 2-4)	วันละ 20-30 นาที
2-4 ปี	(เกรด 4-6)	วันละ 30-45 นาที
4-6 ปี	(เกรด 6-8)	วันละ 45-60 นาที

(นักเรียนบางคนอาจจะฝึกฝนมากกว่านี้ และสำหรับนักดนตรีมืออาชีพอาจจะฝึกฝนวันละมากกว่า 6 ชั่วโมง)

 การเรียนการสอนจะเริ่มขึ้นเมื่อใด?

อย่างไรก็ตาม นักเรียนจะต้องขาดเรียนจากการเรียนการสอนปรกติ โดยบทเรียนดังกล่าวจะเป็นการเรียนที่หมุนเวียนตลอดทั้งวัน ซึ่งหมายถึง นักเรียนจะไม่พลาดบทเรียนเดิมที่นักเรียนต้องออกมาจากการเรียนการสอนปรกติ โดยปรกติแล้ว นักเรียนจะได้เรียนสัปดาห์ละ 1 วัน (ตัวอย่างเช่น วันจันทร์) นักเรียนจะได้เรียนวันนั้นๆ แต่เลื่อนคาบเรียนไปเป็นคาบเรียนอื่นๆ ในสัปดาห์ต่อไป

หากนักเรียนมีเรียนวิชาดนตรี และต้องขาดเรียนวิชาการเรียนการสอนปรกติ นักเรียนควรแจ้งคุณครูประจำวิชาอย่างไร?

นักเรียนจะได้รับตารางเรียนตลอดภาคเรียนล่วงหน้า ดังนั้นนักเรียนจะทราบล่วงหน้าว่าต้องขาดเรียนวิชาใดบ้าง และเป็นความรับผิดชอบของนักเรียนที่จะต้องแจ้งให้คุณครูประจำวิชาทราบล่วงหน้าด้วยตัวของนักเรียนเอง (ไม่ควรฝากเพื่อนมาบอกหรือทิ้งโน้ตไว้)

นักเรียนจะติดตามงานจากวิชาที่นักเรียนขาดเรียนอย่างไร หากนักเรียนต้องเข้าเรียนวิชาเครื่องดนตรี?

แม้ว่าจะเป็นความรับผิดชอบของนักเรียนที่จะต้องติดตามงานจากวิชาที่นักเรียนขาดเรียนไป และค้นหาการบ้านต่างๆ แต่คุณครูก็จะเข้าใจและคอยช่วยเหลือให้นักเรียนตามให้ทันการเรียนการสอนดังกล่าว

นักเรียนควรซื้อเครื่องดนตรีก่อนหรือไม่?

นักเรียนควรมีเครื่องดนตรีเป็นของตนเองในการฝึกฝนที่บ้าน ทางโรงเรียนฯ สามารถให้คำแนะนำในการซื้อเครื่องดนตรีผ่านตัวแทนจำหน่ายในท้องถิ่นได้

เปิดสอนวิชาเครื่องดนตรีอะไรบ้าง?

ไวโอลิน, การร้องเพลง, เปียโน, กลองชุด, กีตาร์, อูคูเลเล่, เครื่องดนตรีไทย(ขิม, ระนาด, ซอด้วง, ซออู้, ขลุ่ย และฆ้องวง)

นักเรียนจะต้องทำอย่างไร หากวิชาเครื่องดนตรีที่นักเรียนต้องการเรียนไม่ได้อยู่ในรายการข้างต้น?

หากนักเรียนต้องการเรียนวิชาเครื่องดนตรีอื่นๆ ทางโรงเรียนฯ อาจจะให้คำแนะนำนักเรียนในการค้นหาคุณครูจากนอกโรงเรียนฯ

รายชื่อที่รอดำเนินการ

หากทางโรงเรียนฯ ไม่สามารถค้นหาคุณครูสอนเครื่องดนตรีชนิดใดชนิดหนึ่งได้ ทางโรงเรียนฯ จะแจ้งให้ท่านทราบ และรายชื่อของนักเรียนจะอยู่ในรายการที่รอดำเนินการ หากทางโรงเรียนฯ ไม่สามารถหาคุณครูผู้สอนเครื่องดนตรีที่นักเรียนต้องการเรียนได้ นักเรียนจะได้รับเงินคืนเต็มจำนวน

 

ข้อกำหนดและเงื่อนไข

เวลาของการเรียน

ท่านผู้ปกครองจะต้องทำความเข้าใจว่า นักเรียนจะต้องขาดเรียนจากการเรียนการสอนปรกติ ผู้ปกครองอาจจะกังวลว่านักเรียนจะได้ขาดเรียนบางวิชา อย่างไรก็ตาม จากการได้ปรึกษากับคุณครูประจำวิชา ทั้งในเรื่องของงานและความก้าวหน้าทางการเรียนของนักเรียนจะไม่ได้รับผลกระทบกระเทือน

การจัดตารางเรียนใหม่ (ในกรณีนักเรียนมีกิจกรรมทัศนศึกษา, ธุระสำคัญ หรือลาป่วย)

• ตามข้อตกลงของคุณครู นักเรียนอาจจะต้องจัดตารางเรียนใหม่เป็นครั้งคราว นักเรียนควรแจ้งคุณครูหนอนหรือผู้ประสานงานวิชาเครื่องดนตรี ให้ทราบก่อนอย่างน้อย 24 ชั่วโมงก่อนเวลาเรียน
• ขอความกรุณารักษาเวลาให้เป็นปรกติสม่ำเสมอ และทำการเปลี่ยนแปลงเมื่อมีความจำเป็นเท่านั้น (ตัวอย่างเช่น การไปดูหนังไม่ใช่เหตุผลที่ดีสำหรับการขอเปลี่ยนแปลงตารางเรียน เป็นต้น)

หากนักเรียนขาดเรียน จะมีการชดเชยค่าเรียนหรือไม่?

หากนักเรียนไม่ได้แจ้งให้คุณครูทราบล่วงหน้า จะไม่สามารถคืนเงินได้

จะเกิดอะไรขึ้น หากคุณครูขาดการเรียนการสอน?

คณะคุณครูที่โรงเรียนนานาชาติเซนต์สตีเฟ่นส์ เป็นบุคลากรที่น่าเชื่อถือและเป็นมืออาชีพ ซึ่งจะแจ้งให้นักเรียนและผู้ปกครองทราบล่วงหน้าทางโทรศัพท์ก่อน 24 ชั่วโมง หากไม่สามารถเข้าทำการเรียนการสอนได้ตามปรกติ และจะจัดตารางเรียนที่เหมาะสมในเวลาที่สะดวกร่วมกัน

การตรงต่อเวลา

นักเรียนจะต้องมาถึงชั้นเรียนให้ตรงต่อเวลา ทางโรงเรียนฯ ขอความร่วมมือให้นักเรียนมาถึงห้องเรียนก่อนเวลาเรียนอย่างน้อย 5 นาที เพื่อนักเรียนจะได้เตรียมความพร้อมทั้งเครื่องดนตรีและสมุด หากนักเรียนมาสาย คุณครูจะไม่ชดเชยเวลาให้

การสมัครเรียน

นักเรียนทุกคนต้องกรอกแบบฟอร์มการสมัครเรียน

นักเรียนที่เคยเรียนวิชาเครื่องดนตรีที่โรงเรียนฯ แล้ว จะต้องลงทะเบียนสมัครเรียนใหม่หรือไม่?

ใช่ ในการเริ่มต้นปีการศึกษา นักเรียนจะต้องลงทะเบียนสมัครเรียนใหม่ และนักเรียนไม่จำเป็นต้องลงสมัครเรียนซ้ำในภาคเรียนที่ 2 และ 3 เนื่องจากเป็นการดำเนินการต่อไปโดยอัตโนมัติ ยกเว้น ในกรณีทางโรงเรียนฯ ได้รับจดหมายเพื่อขอยกเลิกการเรียนดังกล่าวในช่วงเวลาที่กำหนด

 ค่าเรียนราคาเท่าไหร่?

การเรียนตัวต่อตัว จะใช้เวลาเรียนครั้งละ 30 นาที ในภาคเรียนที่ 1 จะเรียนทั้งหมด 12 คาบเรียน ราคา 5,760 บาท, ภาคเรียนที่ 2 จะเรียนทั้งหมด 10 คาบเรียน ราคา 4,800 บาท และภาคเรียนที่ 3 จะเรียนทั้งหมด 8 คาบเรียน ราคา 3,840 บาท

 จำนวนคาบเรียนแต่ละภาคเรียน

                            ในภาคเรียนที่ 1 จะเรียนทั้งหมด 12 คาบเรียน, ภาคเรียนที่ 2 จะเรียนทั้งหมด 10 คาบเรียน และภาคเรียนที่ 3 จะเรียนทั้งหมด 8 คาบเรียน และหากนักเรียนตัดสินใจหยุดเรียนกลางภาคเรียน ทางโรงเรียนฯ จะไม่คืนค่าเล่าเรียนทั้งสิ้น

การชำระเงินและการลงทะเบียน

หากต้องการลงทะเบียน กรุณาสแกนคิวอาร์โค้ดด้านล่างนี้

หลังจากลงทะเบียนเรียบร้อย ใบแจ้งค่าเล่าเรียนจะถูกส่งไปที่พนักงานการเงินภายใน 3 - 4 วันทำการ ท่านผู้ปกครองสามารถติดต่อชำระค่าเล่าเรียนได้ที่พนักงานการเงินภายใน 7 วัน

ขอความกรุณาลงทะเบียนภายในวันศุกร์ที่ 1 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2566 หากท่านผู้ปกครองมีข้อสงสัยเพิ่มเติม กรุณาตรวจสอบได้ที่บอร์ดประกาศภาควิชาดนตรีอาคาร 2 และอาคาร 3 หรือติดต่อครูผู้ประสานงานได้ที่ 02-513-0270 หรืออีเมล์ [email protected].

การหยุดเรียน

หากต้องการหยุดเรียนเมื่อสิ้นภาคเรียน ท่านผู้ปกครองกรุณาอย่าลงทะเบียนเรียนซ้ำ อย่างไรก็ตาม หากนักเรียนหยุดเรียนกลางภาคเรียน จะไม่สามารถคืนเงินค่าเล่าเรียนได้ (เนื่องจากทางโรงเรียนฯ ต้องรักษาผลประโยชน์ของครูผู้สอน)

สุดท้ายนี้ ทางโรงเรียนฯ หวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่า บุตรหลานของท่านที่มีความต้องการจะเรียนรู้วิชาเครื่องดนตรี จะได้รับประโยชน์จากความสุขที่ได้สร้างสรรค์เสียงดนตรีต่อไป หากท่านผู้ปกครองมีข้อสงสัยประการใดเกี่ยวกับการสอนวิชาเครื่องดนตรี กรุณาติดต่อคณะคุณครูภาควิชาดนตรีได้ทันที
