Cambodia Trip
This September, twenty five Year 9 students and three members of staff travelled to Cambodia to take part in a joint History, Art and Geography field trip. The trip was an exciting opportunity for the students to take part in a residential trip overseas, during which they would be able to apply what they have been learning in their International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) lessons in the real world.
Banned Books Week
Banned Books Week September 27th – October 3rd
Ms Marley presented an assembly on the meaning of censorship and encouraged students and teachers to enjoy the written words of banned books. She explained how “Harry Potter” is banned in some places because it has witches and magic; while other books were considered heretic nonsense by some governments, like Darwin’s “Origin of Species.”
Thai Music Concert
On Thursday 8th October, the Music Department held a Thai Music Concert in Pavilion 1, organised by Mr Nhon and Mr Tee our Thai Music teachers. The concert showcased a variety of Thai Musical performances from approximately 100 students from both the Primary and Secondary schools at the Bangkok and the Khao Yai campus, as well as professional guest artists. Performances included: Klui Lib by Y4 students, solo Ranard Eak and a Thai Music Medley Ensemble. It was a great evening celebrating local culture and a chance for our two campuses to come together.
Instrumental Taster Day
On Friday 21st August, students in Years 5 to 13 had the opportunity to try out some of the orchestral instruments on which the school offers lessons. Ms Kelly, our Head of Music and Drama along with Ms Celia (Head of Primary Music), and Mr Tu (Strings teacher) worked with groups of ten to fifteen students at each of the instrument stations. Students learned some basic techniques on instruments such as the violin, cello, trumpet, french horn, flute, clarinet and saxophone.
